Meet Kat Leyh

author of Snapdragon

KatLeyh_Snapdragon.png

Who is your favorite fictional character?

At the moment. Snufkin, from The Moomins

What’s a fun fact about you?

I raised and showed rabbits for 12 years.

Do you have a special writing chair/snack/ritual?

Yes. I always like to start my day with the same breakfast, a mug of tea and an episode of whatever I'm watching at the time. Then I try to get 4 pages of writing done before taking my next meal/snack break. After that, I usually reserve the rest of my work day for drawing.

What is the best writing advice you ever got (or gave)?

"Kill your darlings" Essentially, sometimes you have to cut something you really enjoyed for the sake of the overall story.

What is your book about?

Snapdragon is a magical realist graphic novel about Snap, a young girl who befriends her town’s witch and discovers the strange magic within herself.
