Meet Rex Ogle

author of Free Lunch

What was your favorite book as a kid?

Alice in Wonderland, anything by R.L. Stine, and the Hardy Boys series.

Have you had any horrible/hilarious/awesome jobs besides writer?

I've had over 50 jobs! One of the worst moments was being told I had to clean the bathroom at a Super-Wal-Mart in Prattville, Alabama. I took one look (and smell) and said, "You can fire me, but I won't do that."

If you could have any magic power, what would it be?

Teleporting! Then I wouldn't have to go to the airport or deal with jet lag on airplanes.

Top 10 Things I Do For Fun:

  1. Video games (MarioKart!)

  2. Playing logic puzzle games.

  3. Watching TV / Movies.

  4. Napping with the windows open.

  5. Beach days!

  6. Reading fantasy novels.

  7. Board games with friends.

  8. Go hiking with my dog.

  9. Read comics (especially X-Men)!

  10. Writing. (What can I say? I love making up stories.)

What is your book about?

Free Lunch is a true story about my first year in middle school, and being in the Free Lunch program.
